There are over 200 diseases that cause immense suffering around the world. There are a list of common diseases, but they’re grouped by their scope: infectious, chronic and non-communicable. Infectious diseases are caused by bacteria, parasites or viruses, while non-communicable diseases occur due to lifestyle patterns like smoking, alcohol consumption, inactivity and obesity. Chronic illnesses fall into several categories including respiratory problems such as asthma or bronchitis. Mumps, malaria, whooping cough and tuberculosis are the most common diseases in the world. They cause millions of deaths annually.
