Anyone had sleep issues since their event? I’m 4 weeks down the track and get 2 to 4 hours at a time. I was a really good sleeper before. I am a 24/7 shift worker. Did a night shift last night and then 2 hours sleep this morning! I’m so tired

Rita M King
Exactly same here. Lucky to get 3 hours in at night

Have you followed up with your doctor? Self advocacy is key to a recovery. Sleep is imperative to good health.

Jennifer de Vries it’s been hard getting into one. I’m in the process of switching clinics and trying to find one that cares to figure issues out.

Jennifer de Vries
Goof luck to you and be kind but forceful with the push to get you seen and heard.

Yes. I have this problem, 3 1/2 years later…still. Talk to your doctor.

I have had no sleep issues. I exercise regularly and I eat a very healthy diet which helps with a good sleep cycle 8-10 hrs for me. .

Yes I fell asleep so easily before tia. Now I feel like my body is racing , and toss & turn taking quite a while to fall asleep.

Emma Poynton
Sherry West I fall asleep straight away. I just can’t stay asleep unfortunately

Terry Greene
I wake up every 2 hours

I have always had sleep problems since I was a child but it has got worse. I sometimes feel like a panic attack (?) when just about to fall asleep.

Emma Poynton
John Keegan I have been hypervigilant most of my life but most of the time I could put my anxiety aside and sleep. Now I’m worried I’m going to drive off the road one day. If I can get 4 hours I can fully function and normally day sleeping after night shift like a cat in the sun is my favourite. I miss it

Emma Poynton used to work permanent nights due to sleep problems but have not worked since my first stroke. Used to sleep in the garden but since moving to Cumbria it rains a lot.

Emma Poynton
John Keegan is your panic post brain event? Or did you always have it? I do feel a bit like I’m waking myself up on purpose but don’t know why.

John Keegan
Emma Poynton This only happened after my second stroke. I was OK after the first (sort of) but I think I did not realise what was in front of me but with the second I did. Perhaps I fear a third?

I feel you. I’ve had trouble sleeping the past two nights. My TIA was 12/19. I think I will try melatonin.

Jennifer de Vries
Did a doctor or health care professional prescribe melatonin? It is a “drug” even if it’s a natural substance.

Marilyn Maxine Martin
I can sleep until 1-2 am then I’m just laying there ugh!

Emma Poynton
Marilyn Maxine Martin I think I’m lucky in that for the most part. I can go back to sleep. It just doesn’t feel quality because of the waking up every couple of hours. But I’m grateful not to be insomniac. Poor you x

Marilyn Maxine Martin
It’s always insomnia, but for this week it has.

Mare Bare
🙁 I was afraid to go to sleep after my TIA. Only after having a good follow-up CT scan I was able to rest.

Emma Poynton
Mare Bare I can understand being afraid for sure.
