Does anyone experience horrible anxiety in their chest with tmj and feel like you can’t breathe?

my bones are rubbing against each other more then they ever did.

Hi i have an important question and having a problem i never had before with my tmj. My left side hurts beyond anything i can explain and i am at the point to where it is nearly impossible to eat and swallow anything. My disc feels like it is constantly stuck and i can’t open my mouth as much as a week ago. Feels like my disc is being squeezed so hard and won’t let go, my bones are rubbing against each other more then they ever did.
This is the worst pain i have felt within the 20 years of this madness of tmj. I feel at any moment my jaw is either going to crack, break, or just lock and stay locked.
My anxiety is horrible and i feel like crap sorry. Back in January when i had the arthrocentesis the goal was to shrink my disc. What happens when the disc shrinks? Can this cause more problems then good? My problem now is i am eating less then what i normally do and i can’t do this anymore. I tried pain management and i’m allergic to a few meds and now there is no pain relief, OMG what do i do? Does anyone experience horrible anxiety in their chest with tmj and feel like you can’t breathe? I don’t know where to turn to from here, and my dislocated discs are ruining everything, i need to get out of pain A.S.A.P. HELP

Can you get some anxiety meds to get that part under control?

Allison Please try a good TMJD dentist for a lower 24 / 7 splint orthotic … your jaw joint I am sure needs decompression I know it’s ever so hard getting someone to make you the right appliance . Sometimes people feel better even with a couple of cotton wool rolls in between their teeth .. if that is the case it means I think that a splint could help you could look into Gelb splints or Orthotics … I know this is not much help but it is all I can think of .. all the best

Eva next week i have to do a home sleep study test, and this is from an orthodontist and he is also working with someone else on this page but i don’t see him on here much, Roger Price, i really hope something happens soon to get out of pain. My disc is so dislocated i never thought it would get like this i hate it. now i’m in the worst pain of my life 24/7 and barely able to eat i feel like i have a curse that can’t be broken, 20 years is way way too long live with this.

Allison How can you have orthodontics without first getting some stabilty and decompression in your jaw ?

Allison Vanwinkle
what is decompression Eva? I have had every treatment under the sun from mouth guards pieces, night guards ect, physical therapy 5 times, chiropractic jaw adjustments and ultra sound, trigger point injections, pain meds but am allergic to them, heat ice, reiki, muscle relaxers, arthrocentesis, and acupuncture. I am at my last draw here, nobody else can help me because i did every treatment and all failed. but i don’t know what decompression is nobody ever talked to me about it not even surgeons. this is my last resort there is nothing else anyone can do. there is a new program that nobody has done before, the doctors that are doing it had to go to california to learn it. i also have a bad overbite that braces never fixed, so i’m not sure how to use cotton wool rolls, never tried it before.

If you are anywhere near Illinois message me I could give you the dentist that cured my TMJ. I had the most unbelievable case of TMJ ever even after he’s helped over 1000 patients. It would take me forever to write all the things that were wrong with me on here but let’s just say it was the worst thing you can imagine and he cured me 100%. Let me know if you’re near Illinois.

Cindy i am in new jersey but what did this dentist do to cure your tmj? i will consider flying even though i have not been on a plane in over 10 years, it will be worth it to get cured. How did the dentist help you, when did you go and how long have you been in pain for?

His name is Dr. Alexader Grabavoy he is in Shorewood, IL. His office number is 815-730-0900. If you tell him I sent you the consulation appointment will be $250. Plan for the first appointment to be over 2hours long. You have to go once a month for splint adjustments for the first year though. The first year you wear the splint 24/7 while it walks your jaw back in place. After that you will only go once a year for a splint adjustment that you wear only overnight. When I started my mouth opening was 22mm now it was either 44 or 48mm (can’t remember which lol, but it’s normal now.) I cannot tell you how thankful I am that I found this doctor! A little tip, try to bring an MRI of your TMJ in an open and closed position with you if possible. This will save you money because if your family doctor will write the prescription for you most of the time it is covered. Feel free to message me with any questions. Best of luck to you!

Oh and just thought I would add I have no connection with them money wise, only as a patient.

Was that a lower splint Cindy ? Full coverage or Gelb type and was it worn for eating ? Thanks for letting us know

Cindy Jusino Mine was on my lower teeth, full coverage, taken out only when I eat. It was acrylic.

For the sake of not having to retype it all here Ill post a bit of what I sent to my insurance company. And as far as being in the news, I’m not unique as this doctor has cured many for starters. Second off from what I have learned from living with TMJ is most people have no idea what it is. Everyone basically thought I was crazy. Doctor after doctor turned me away saying they seen nothing like this. Honestly I don’t blame them. I couldn’t imagine someone going from fine to this over night if I haven’t lived it myself. Anyways, here’s some of my letter I wrote them describing my issues: This procedure is correcting a misallocated jaw that has resulted in me only being able to open my mouth 18 mm, when normal averages 45 mm. It left me unable to chew my food so I have had to purée every single meal. It also made my neck lock up so I could not turn my head to the left at all. I also could not bend down at all.
It was very hard to take a shower because if anything even touched my head such as someone accidentally walking by and just brushing my head by accident I would scream in pain because it would hurt so bad. This made shower time with water hitting my head absolutely horrible. To top it off I also developed burning mouth syndrome. Yes, unfortunately this is a real thing. As a result I had to swish around a mixture of lovacain about every 30 minutes for months to help with the horrible pain. And if all that wasn’t bad enough already, my jaw being misalign caused me to be dizzy so bad that the room would be spinning. This was extremely worse whenever I would lay down so I had to get a hospital bed so I could sleep in a sitting up position for over 6 months straight! The TMJ has also caused my ears to be completely full as if I’m in an airplane. I went to doctor after doctor and literally just walked in and cried and begged beyond belief for them to help me somehow.
Also, from my jaw being out of place it made a crystal in my ear loose which affected my balance and made the room spin. As you can imagine taking care of two kids under the age of five was very difficult. Luckily, my one son was at the age where he was able to climb out of the crib himself but I ran into a problem at his nap time as I couldn’t lift him back into the crib. So every day for too many months account, my husband would come home on his lunch with just enough time to lift him into the crib for me before running back out the door to get back to work. I also suffered from, headaches, facial pain, and pain that radiated all the way down both my arms, leaving me unable to use my arms for almost anything, including lifting my cup to drink. The TMJ has also caused my ears to be completely full as if I’m in an airplane. I went to doctor after doctor and literally just walked in and cried and begged beyond belief for them to help me somehow. I was desperate for any help I can get. to be sent away and told they have never seen anything like this. After googling for answers I came across TMJ I immediately found a TMJ specialist and when I seen him he agreed I did have TMJ, but he said there was something else wrong with me that was even worse. He believed there was no way anyone could just have TMJ this bad so he sent me to get a MRI of my brain and jaw and told me he believed I had to have a brain tumor as well. Luckily, the MRIs showed my jaw was out of place but I did not have a brain tumor. He then told me he did not know how to treat me because I was just too bad. Finally then after months of searching I came across a TMJ specialist with excellent results who treated over a thousand patients.

you describe your splint like this ‘Mine was on my lower teeth, full coverage, taken out only when I eat. It was acrylic.’ I am puzzled how it could improve your chewing fully and decompress your jaw joints if not worn while eating . This is is different from most treatments Cindy Jusino ?

Cindy Jusino
When eating my jaw was not being held in the right place…at first. See phase one walks it back to normal and with it being on 24/7 other then the little time you eat it will and did go back to a normal place. Phase 2 is when your covered while eating also becauase once the jaw is back in normal place he shaves enamal off your teeth to make your bite even. Then you wear a splint the rest of your life at night to protect what he did to your bite. That sounds scary and scared the heck out of me, but the whole time he was shaving my enamal seriouisly took under a min on all the teeth he did combined. In the end he barley took anything at all but for the first time in my life my bite is 100% even. It’s an amazing feeling as I now don’t even have a side of the mouth I naturally chew on anymore. About 2 days after the procedure my teeth are already smooth again. The whole experience was painless and sooooo worth it!
