Has anyone ofound anything that helps alleviate symptims of RLS

I could just be sitting watching a movie and it starts or it happens when I’m driving

Has anyone on here actually found anything that helps alleviate symptims of RLS?!?! Whether it be a prescription from a doctor, something over the counter, vitamins, supplements, a cream, a lotion, a gel, a spray, home remedies, etc… I’m at my wits end!!! I’ve been on and off Requip for a few years. I’m currently on 3mg and it’s going absolutely nothing for me. Going to see a Neurologist next week to hopefully get some answers. My RLS is to the point where my symptoms can attack at anytime of day. I could just be sitting watching a movie and it starts or it happens when I’m driving. And when I try to go to sleep forget it. HELP!!!!

Jenifer Prevatte I used Requip for a brief amount of time and then my symptoms starting getting worse. Read about augmentation before you go back to the doc. I had to stop taking it for that reason. I use medical marijuana now and it helps better than anything else I’ve tried!

Amanda Lynn I’ve had nothing, but bad experiences from marijuana so that’s out for me. What is the issue with Augmentation?

Jenifer Prevatte My experience with augmentation was that it was a miracle drug and worked so well until it didn’t. My symptoms got so much worse so doc had me increase the dosage. It was great again until symptoms got worse. Its a vicious cycle and it’s hard to detox off from Requip too. I tried Gabepentin and used that until I was able to get my marijuana license.

Amanda Lynn Unfortunately I’m allergic to Augmentin. I’ve tried Gabapentin before as well because I have Sciatic nerve pain, but also had terrible side effects it made me dizzy.

Amanda Lynn Where exactly do I put the CBD oil and is there a certain percentage or dose I’m suppose to use? I’ve considered trying that.

Melissa Warner Amanda Lynn augmentation is different than the drug augmentin. Augmentation is when your body responds negatively and makes rls symptoms worse and sometimes full body read up on augmentation and RLS hope that helps

Amanda Lynn Oh ok I understand now. I will reasearch it.

Mary MacGowan Jenifer Christiansen Prevatte hi. I’ve used medical marijuana for about 9 years for RLS and I’ve had a good run of it. Sadly it has stopped working effectively or very little. I’m so sad about it. I thought I had a good thing going. Have you heard of this happening to anyone? I just don’t know what to do. I still have pot every night (cannabis butter) and I still get high, but the RLS is acting like I’m using nothing at all. I’m usually high while the RLS goes crazy, and I guess that helps a bit emotionally. Sad.

Eva Holleman Let us know what the doc says. I know I’m calling mine Monday. Requip isn’t helping me either. Very frustrated.

Melissa Warner Kratom It May soon get banned but it saved my life fro rls and insomnia and Ritalin stops my symptoms completely but is contributing to my insomnia. To find relief it’s worth it sometimes.

Ron Herrera Klonopin is the best. Quiets the nerves down completely. And is the absolute best thing for me. Getting it prescribed to me is a different story.

Melissa Warner Glad it works for you have been on that type of medication for 30 years and it obviously doesn’t touch my RLS

Judy Eslinger I don’t remember what I took a few years back but I said never, ever again. The first night I thought I was in a room with no windows or doors and I was in a panic and couldn’t breathe. I tried calling for help but I couldn’t. I knew my husband was next to me and I wanted him to help me but I couldn’t say anything. Next morning he said he heard me breathing hard but not yelling for help. Since then I don’t take meds of any kind for it, I’m afraid to.

Nancy Kenney I raised my ferritin to 300 with 2 iron infusions a week apart recommended by neurologist and referred to hematologis. I take 2.5 mg of methadone, through a neurologist I have to drive 200 miles round trip. if I have breakthrough RLS I take Kratom. with that I no longer have symptoms. Also take minerals, magnesium, moderate sugar and if so before 5 pm. Healthy non processed food.

Melissa Warner When my blood sugars are high my RLS is horrible and I truly believe this also low carb before 5 pm is helpful. I am on iron supplement my iron level was 83 I believed and the RLS Foundation recommends 100 for women. I found a doctor who listens but not one that can prescribe methadone but I truly believe as chronic as mine is that is where I am at. Keep your routine it sounds similar and except for the opioid which is clearly stated in the research literature I am only missing one med that could change my quality of life for the better! Where are you located?

Renee M Cazares Hot bath.. (I scrub my legs) tylenol (it doesn’t work for nerve pain but helps my legs) aspercream after bath. I have been eating half a banana and drinking 200.mg of Magnesium Catrite every evening. One hr before bed 1800 to 2700 mg of Valerian Root capsules. ( note; Biofreeze makes my symptoms of RLS worse).

Tianna Bushman Wearing compression sleeves on the shins during the day for at least 4 hours. No benadryl ever. No chocolate or caffeine within 6 hours of sleep. If it’s painful, warm Epsom salt bath before bed. And walking and doing squats in the early afternoon to tire out my legs. That is my routine that helps it be bareable.

Catherine Turney I have had rls for over 20 years. About10 years ago I started using magnesium tablets and vitamin E and for four years had no symptoms. Then I had a hysterectomy and rls was back. Now I’m on medication again. Really thought I’d cured it but then I did have four really good rls free years.
