I have idiopathic intercranial hypertension for 21 years, anxiety, depression and now got diagnosed with Rls and RA.

A little bit about my medical issues.

I am new to the group and live in in Fort Meade Florida. A little bit about my medical issues. I have been suffering with chronic migraines since I was in 10th grade (I’m 42 now), I have idiopathic intercranial hypertension for 21 years, anxiety, depression and now got diagnosed with Rls and RA. I went to bed at 9p after a bath and didn’t fall asleep till 430 because the pain. I took tramadol, predisone, with all my other meds. I did hot and cold packs off and on. I have a video call with my GP Monday. What are some other home remedies to do till I can get the help. I can’t function on 3 hours of sleep a day. Between migraines, pressure headaches and this now has blown my anxiety through the roof. Sorry for complaining but I gotta find something to do tonight because I need to sleep. I have been told to limit my outings now too. Been in lockdown since 3/16. When I took my bath last night I used dr teal calming bath soap. I stopped all caffeine and that suck because it helps with my headaches. I was in tears last night and my fiancé tried to help but it’s hard to explain what I feel. I have no friends who understand, family don’t understand either. I know I sound like I’m a cry baby right now but I am just so so tired.
Hope all is well with y’all this weekend and have a good week

First of all, you are NOT a crybaby! Sleep deprivation is awful. I do not have all of the issues that you do, so I don’t put this out as a cure-all, just as a “here’s what has helped me.” I eliminated all caffeine other than 1 1/2 cups of coffee before 10 a.m. and drink nothing but water after that… I started that about two and a half months ago and have had some really good sleep. It was truly a game changer for me. I had started the medication route but decided to re-start by just really being aware of what went into my body food and drink-wise. I’ve definitely backed off on sugar as well. Good luck to you. You are not alone ❤️

Hey, it’s tough for sure, people who haven’t gone through it don’t understand. Check and Google all your meds you’re taking, if they raise your Serotonin level, that can make your RLS worse. SSRI’s antidepressants, Tricyclic meds like Elavil/Amitriptyline, Benadryl….even supplements can aggravate your RLS like 5HTP, Melatonin, SAMe…..Anything that raises your Dopamine level naturally can help RLS like L Tyrosine, Rhodiola, Ginseng, Mucana Pruriens. On bad days, I used to wrap my legs with tension bandages. Potassium has helped me quite a bit. I take two 99mg twice to three times a day, with magnesium malate. Beside Potassium another doctor recommended items would B1, B12, check your Iron, since being low on Iron can really turn on RLS. Make sure you’re taking enough vitamin D, since that affects your pain sensitivity and if you’re deficient, it can also lead to depression and lack of sleep. You’ve cut out caffeine, great and try to cut out alcohol, sugar and a diet of simple carbohydrates, easier said than done, I struggle myself at times. You can check out Low Dose Naltrexone, (LDN), it can really help with RA and all autoimmune diseases

Thank y’all so much

Hi Danielle. Welcome. You don’t sound like a crybaby to me, just a victim of RLS. Kava can help with the anxiety, and chamomile. Neither of those with stop the legs 🙁. You may just have to focus on trying to not lose you mind until you see the doc.

I’m sorry for are suffering. I’ve started rubbing Vicks into my calves thanks to this group!) And the restlessness at night has eased off a little. Good luck to you!

I cried many times in gratitude for 30 min of sleep. 3 h is also too little.

Danielle Winters-Ryals
Mikaela Sterner I meant to say a total of 3-4 in last couple nights. It sucks.

Mikaela Sterner
Danielle Winters-Ryals yes! And the lack of sleep is torture. For real, hope you find something that works for you. (have you tried juggling? It helped my arms)

Mary DeMersseman
Tramadol is an upper for me and I’m afraid to take it at night for that reason.

Danielle Winters-Ryals
Mary DeMersseman they do help me sleep when my body lets me.
