Writes lists or random words which he understands

I don’t know what to do

Hi there I was wondering if anyone has any supportive words or advice. My fiancé has OCD. He writes lists or random words which he understands, checks his shoes at certain intervals, likes orders. He gets angry and loses his temper, frustrated. He can’t deal if plans change either. When we first got together he saw a doctor who would only prescribe him anti-depressant: he tried them for a few months but they didn’t help his OCD and made him paranoid. He then seeked help from online and started going to the gym which has helped keep him calm. Like he could release his frustrations.Every so often he has like a flare up when things don’t go wrong and he turns into a monster, this led to us seperating a few years back and then we got back together. These flares ups don’t happen very often but when they do he gets quite nasty and sometimes physical and I don’t know what to? Xxx

Perhaps encourage him to seek help again
Charlie Richardson, the re is now a much better understanding of OCD than even a few years ago. ask if theres a mental health nurse at your health centre or ask the GP to refer him. xx

I might wait til this episode is over with til I suggest going back. His Doctor said he didn’t have OCD because he’s ok getting dirty and stuff. Xxx

Well, I used to take cars to bits for fun and have OCD!!!!! Maybe see a different Dr.

Its a complex issue and it really needs to be addressed by someone who is familiar with mental health issues. My first GP didn’t, but he IS a complete walloper.

It’s best that he sees a doctor who is actually familiar with OCD. It’s amazing how ignorant the medical community is when it comes to OCD. (The general public at large has very little understanding of what it’s really all about.) So you need to make sure you find someone who can really help him when you look for a doctor. Obsessing about getting dirty is only one of many OCD symptoms, and the fact that the doctor said he didn’t have it because of that tells me he doesn’t know much about it at all.

Thank you so much, it’s these episodes which really could break us and was witnessed by our 5 year old daughter. I just want to get help before it gets bad again xxx

Sounds like Aspergers actually with OCPD

Charlie Whitehall
He’s very affectionate but it’s funny you say that because our daughter is going through an assessment for Aspergers xxx

Remember that no matter the diagnoses he does not have a right to hurt you or your daughter in any way. You have to look out for yourself, too.

Different Dr, maybe different meds, and therapy.
